My favorite photography blogger compared the 2015 Nissan Versa to the BMW 2002:

The author is a huge Miata fan and knows what he’s talking about when it comes to cars, despite being a photography blogger. Still, I doubt the 2002 understeered like a Versa...

Oh no, make it stop. Roll up windows, similar hp, and somewhat similar weight do not make it a modern 2002. Hate to say it, but the closest thing would be the BMW 218i offered in Europe. Also, the 2002 doesn’t feel as flimsy as a rental car.

Judging by your username, I think you might be qualified to evaluate the claim. We just need to ask VersaLvr42 what they think and then we’ll get to the bottom of this.
I think his memory of the 2002 is a bit hazy and has been winnowed down to the experience of a lightweight car with a stick shift and 4-cyl engine.

I’d wager that the 1.6 DOHC in the Versa is a very different than the 2.0 SOHC in the 02. Also, I don’t know how you can call an economy FWD car the new version of a RWD car.
